In this Vlog/Blog we will take some inspiration from Dennis Sandole’s guitar lore/scale lore concepts.
If we look below we will see an example of a polytonal scale chromatically linking together through different keys,
DENNIS SANDOLE EXAMPLE:
We also see this in common scales too although not to such a degree.
OKAY, SO LET’S MAKE SOME IMPROVISED MUSIC OUT OF IT ALL!
Below is a chromatic linking idea counting in groups of 6 notes over an A7 Alt chord.
CHROMATIC RESOLUTIONS ON The OFF BEAT:
This idea relies upon starting the alternate picking by playing off the beat [Missing the first semiquaver]. This creates “Forward Momentum” and puts most of the chromatic notes on the off beat, and at other times creates the illusion of it.

When looking at even the most well known scales we still find other scales embedded within them.
B Altered Scale contains a whole tone scale and a Diminished scale giving it an exotic sound.
C Diminished scale contains two mixolydian tetrachords. The first being of the root and the second being of the flat 5:
We can of course extend scales as we have looked at in Jazz Scale Extensions

Here we have another polytonal/multiple scale idea:
Here we employ triplets.
Below are some “Mixed up” ideas as concepts to get a flow and to syncopate and get a feel for it. These are only exercises but create interest by the way the different scales appear and move.
