Hi Guys,
Just a quick video [above] looking at the death/closure of the guitar magazine:
For me, the guitar magazine was an important part of guitar culture and a great source of learning, especially in the old days where there was very little information about.
The most important, educational and best UK guitar magazine was “Guitar Techniques” which has sadly published its last copy.
For me, this magazine was an amazing concept with real in depth and valuable lessons from the likes of, Shaun Baxter, Pete Callard and Guthrie Govan.
Examples of some truly great work!
Shaun Baxter……

Pete Callard…….

Guthrie Govan…..

Every subject under the sun was investigated and captured in detail. Explained with clarity and easy to execute on our guitars!
So, enjoy the video above if you were like myself a guitar mag nerd [lol!], as it is really just a tribute to the great magazines and an age and culture of a time now seemingly gone by.

I’d loved that magazine. I still have every copy that I ever bought.

Hi John, It’s sad to see Guitar Techniques close along with Total Guitar and Guitar Player magazines. But, luckily like you I’ve kept all of my old copies. I always looked forward to getting my next copy of Guitar Techniques, great days!

Thanks for this great video. I bought a bunch of guitar techniques magazines in the 90s. I still have them. You have inspired me to go have another look.
I didn’t really have enough time to take advantage of everything they offered, and maybe I was lazy as well. Now I’m looking forward to digging in to some of those old issues, particularly for some fusion knowledge

Hi Jay, Yeah, those were the days! I used to really look forward to getting my next copy of Guitar Techniques. They always had top notch lessons and Pete Callard and Shaun Baxter were the two who’s lessons I followed the most. Luckily, like you I kept a lot of my magazines, and still find useful contributions in them today. We were lucky to experience the days of the magic of the guitar magazine, Great times!
