In this exercise the key is to get the slide/slur on the “Down stroke” when alternate picking quick bits of scale [or Raga]

This exercise starts on a down stroke: Try to accent the 1st and 3rd notes and count time as you do so: For example:
1 e and a etc or Ta ka di mi etc

With Alternate Picking it is essential to hear the rhythm so that your brain can process what you are about to play.

It is essential to still hear the “Ta Ka Di Mi” or “1 e and a” etc when there is silence or a rest. That way you will “Stay in the groove” with a tight smooth rhythmic attack to your playing.

As per usual it is also essential try to accent the 1st and 3rd notes in each 4 note grouping.
