In this exercise the key is to get the slide/slur on the “Down stroke” when alternate picking quick bits of scale [or Raga]

This exercise starts on a down stroke: Try to accent the 1st and 3rd notes and count time as you do so: For example:
1 e and a etc or Ta ka di mi etc

The key to these examples is to accent the 1st and 3rd notes [“Downstokes”]whilst also remembering the “Up” stroke as a lighter but essential touch in order to cross the guitar strings fluently when strict alternate picking.

The first example starts on the 3rd beat, so remember to count 3 e and a 4 e and a to come in on the 1st beat of the next bar.

Example 2: Employs a simple pentatonic scale and then joins together with the F melodic minor scale as used in the 1st example.
